Siliguri computer fair generates Rs 8 lakh
Friday, February 03, 2012

The computer fair hosted by IT Dealers Association (ITDAS) ended on a high note with nearly Rs 8 lakh of transaction being concluded in the 3-day event. The computer fair, which started on January 12, 2012 was inaugurated by Sanjay Singh, IG, North Bengal at City Garden. It registered over 1 lakh footfalls throughout the event. Around 68 stalls were put up by 40 participating companies and in addition, 10 pavilions were put up by 10 other participants. “In total, we had 50 participants in the mega event. Profile for exhibits included laptops, desktops, tablets, PDAs, smartphones, internet and intranet, security risk management, computers, computer networks and electronic document management. The event was supported by automobile companies like Honda, Hero Honda and Chevrolet,” said Bijay Agarwal, president, ITDAS.

Further, ITDAS claimed that it offered the best deals on laptops, desktops and other peripherals for the consumer segment, although the primary targeted audience was the corporate sector. “The market in Siliguri is at a standstill with no profit no loss kind of scenario. The fair was primarily targeted to the corporate players in the area and the focus for the participants was over displays and showcasing their products,” he added. However, considerable corporate enquiries have been from the fair. ITDAS is expecting these enquires to be generated during February when the financial year analysis is deemed to begin. “End-customers gained not only on the price front but also on gifts and other promotional freebies,” Agarwal stated. Meeting with success, ITDAS is planning to repeat the same tempo next year too and is expected to raise the total fair budget to exceed at least Rs 40 lakh. This year, it was Rs 30 lakh.
