Expanding their business profile, New Delhi-based Champion Computers has
launched Netbooks in the market under 'Champion Laptop' brand. The company is
also planning to import unbranded laptops that are targeted for the resellers
who can further sell the products with their own brand.
Elaborating further on his plans, Kapil Wadhwa, Managing Director, Champion
Computers said, “The Netbooks that we have launched in the market are ideally
suited for travelers and students. They are very light in weight are available
at extremely low prices. Since the newly launched laptops have all the requisite
features, they will be preferred in the education segment.”
Speaking further on the import of white boxes, Wadha mentioned, “As uptil
now, nobody has catered to this market segment and we took it seriously. We will
be importing white box in the market and will supply to the resellers who want
to sell them under their own brand. This area has not been targeted by any
company.”
When inquired about the competition he is poised to face with the
multinational companies and the strategies that will drive the laptops, Wadhwa
said that it is a general perception that only large companies can sell laptop
which is not true. “Small players can also sell laptops in the market if they
are of same standard. The price at which we are driving the laptops are much
lower in comparison to the large vendors and this strategy will attract the
travelers and students whose main requirement is Internet connection in small
budget,” he said.
Champion laptops are priced at Rs 14,500 and they will be sold through the
channel only. Wadha is also planning to promote the brand through retail sector.
The product will have one year of warranty. It is available in 10.1-inch of
display screen and has processor of Intel Atom N270 and the memory capacity 1GB
DDR2 which is expandable to 2GB. The netbooks are available in black, white,
blue, red, pink and yellow color.
