All Kerala IT Dealers
Association (AKITDA)
has quashed all rumors of member attrition. 16
members of AKITDA including the State Secretary, Shahid Sheik,
were
reportedly joining Malabar IT Dealers Association
(MITDA). Speaking exclusively with The DQ Week,
Toshy Mathew, President, AKITDA said, “We are aware that MITDA is
strong in Calicut (Kozhikode) and as a responsible association,we are
always in favor of protecting dealers interests. At AKITDA we have
the concept of dual membership which clearly defines that in certain
regions, a member can be in two parties. We do not see any
association as rival since all of us share common goals.” The
decision was taken on account of half yearly general body meeting of
MITDA.
Confirming the news Sheik
said, “MITDA was already in existence when AKITDA was formed. Since
they are strong in this region, we felt the need to leverage the
advantages. Its not about leaving any association but we want to work
together in cohesion.” Mathew remarked, “We were not against any
association in particular but are always against associations who are
inactive or do not take interest in dealers welfare. At any point we
make sure that dealer interests are always protected. By joining
hands with MITDA, we have strengthened our position in Calicut and
surrounding areas. Likewise we have also opened our doors to any
member who wants to join us.” MITDA officials were unavailable for
comments. The association is planning and deciding on dealer welfare
activities in the coming year.
